I
a sapling stared at the rising vine
around an old wood
suffocating-- she thought
and prayed to be never bound
seasons passed before
she sensed the touch
resigned-- waiting to be smothered
but it was a liana embracing her
realizing
she let herself be engulfed in love
II
the poetry soaks
my pain
there's little left
i'm afraid
III
I revealed the flaws
Of this universe to
You — mesmerized, now
Limitless. Your walls
Destroyed,
We fled into the void
IV
Your soul desires
to burn alive
And fill this world
full of light
The enchanted fool
looking for meaning,
baring
To a universe older
than time
Yet you spend another day
at office,
in your home,
filing taxes,
thinking
You are not meant
For this life
V
Imagine my love
A warmth
Of sun
Consuming
Possessive
A violent storm
Sometimes
A calm sea
Devotion drenched
In silence
Of you
For you
VI
The red of gulmohar
petals so vibrant
they fall
VII
I think
I’ve slipped in the body
Of an alternate self
She finds pleasure in pastels
Beauty in phrases from books lost
I see her, in the sunshine, dancing
She is alive
And I possess her,
Afraid that she sees me too,
Afraid that she has me tethered
To life
VIII
What is left within me,
but Where anger once burned
Now, emptiness lives
IX
My muse
Don't you see
You stir
Such emotions in me
That I can't quell
Or say
So I show them
In littlest ways
And devote
My loveliest poems
To you
X
Oh, grieve my soul
your shadows pollute
to escape, I wait
my fall absolute
